October 1, 2015 - LANCASTER COUNTY IS GROWING - For Better of For Worse

In the next 25 years the population of Lancaster County is projected to grow by over 100,000 people.  But that does not have to be a problem. Growth is good - even healthy when it is managed effectively.  The key is planning forr growth so it does not adversely affect the unique character of the County and our enviable quality of life.

Growth brings more traffic, more children to educate, more pressure on farmland for new housing, more community services, and the need for more economic development.  The challenge is to anticipate and prepare for a growing population through smart growth and sustainable initiatives that can guide our future.;
